Anonymous: Yes, I completely agree, and that's why we were so confused about the bread service- do they do it or don't they? Why do some people get it and others don't? A place of this caliber should have those details ironed out perfectly, and unfortunately Bouchon simply does not.

I was there recently with guests from out of town. When the runner came out and asked who ordered the croque monsieur that was it for me. Staff at a restaurant like this should know which guest ordered the salad and which guest ordered the ham sandwich.

Diana- I totally hear you. I was at Church & State eating some incredible oysters, a beautiful trout with lentils and my favorite tarte flambe and thought the same thing. Why would I drive all the way to Beverly Hills and pay double when I could get such great food there? Glad you like the design- thanks so much for mentioning!

I was so excited when I found out Bouchon was opening in Beverly Hills, but my enthusiasm kind of died down a bit once I started hearing some mixed reviews. I really do want to stop in for more than a drink some time, but it's hard to justify spending the money when there are so many great places to eat in LA at a lower price point. I think I'd opt for Scarpetta first before hitting up Bouchon. But maybe some day!
